So this weekend I'm headed out to see Quantum of Solace the new James Bond movie which I'm super psyched about, but it's also gotten me thinking about movie theater concessions. Growing up, I never watched a movie without a tub of popcorn in one hand and a soda in the other. As I've gotten older, however, it becomes increasingly more difficult for me to swallow the sticker shock of movie snacks, but I still want to enjoy food while I watch my movie. As a compromise, I bring my own water bottle to the movies, and I frequent a theatre that offers a reusable plastic bucket of popcorn which you buy for $10 and can re-fill as much as you want for 6 months. I am fortunate enough to have found an establishment that offers a compromise between my wallet and my stomach, but what about you? Do you eat at the movies? If so, how do you deal with the rising prices? If not, please share your secret with me so that I can resist the intoxication of movie theater popcorn!!

I'm not a big popcorn fan but usually relent to buying a bottle of water from them.

water definately, since i started my diet, i take grapes if i think i need to snack. usually to put myself off eating, i walk past mcdonalds and take a deep breath of rancid fat, works everytime. i dont snack while watching a movie at home or watching a football match, so popcorn at the movies, i think, is psychological.

Typically Hubby and I eat out before the movie. We never eat during a movie. I think I understand why you want the popcorn, it is a habit. Habits are easy to break if you aconolige that it is just that. Yes, the first few movies will be difficult not to think about what you think you are missing. As times goes on you won't even think about it.
Let's face it, it's only a few hours anyway. :)

It was AWESOME! I couldn't hear a lot of the dialogue, but the action more than made up for it. I love Daniel Craig's Bond interpretation - so complicated and mysterious. Much more compelling for me than the traditional over-confident, cavalier, misogynist (don't get me wrong though, Connery is my 2nd fav :).

Connery is a hard one to beat!

Denver theatre production of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (which opens tonight) hid a Golden Ticket in one of the Wonka bars at the concession stand for a patron to find: http://www.denvervic.com/
